Christmas gifts for a gym bunny

This weekend, I’ve learnt the hard way that Christmas gifting is an intensely pressurised process and the temptation to give in and spoil yourself is HUGE.

Pre-planning is obviously key however with less than ten days to go here are a few things in the shops that I’ve spotted (not spoilt myself with..) and would be perfect for the fitness fiend, gym loving bunny or lycra clad lad this Christmas or for an upcoming birthday..

FM_REFLECT360_Mens_Cycling_Jacket_Front_Split_EffectPROVIZ

PROVIZ 360 Reflective Jacket (£79.99) and Rucksack (£69.99)

This brand is really being the very first to launch a range of fully reflective outershell clothing. A modest grey running jacket that when light shines on the surface illuminates the individual wearing it. The image above shows the difference between light shine on and off. Being an after work runner, sometimes well on into the evening when it is pitch black in London, it’s really important to me that I’m seen so wearing this beauty would come in very handy. The backpack does look a little on the large size for what I need but could be useful for others.

Ronhill Headband

Ronhill Headbands (£8)

This fab headband from Ronhill is sure to keep your ears nice and toasty when out on a chilly morning run and comes in five different colours and combos from GearforGirls.co.uk. Even better news is that you can save a few pounds as it’s reduced to £6.95 from £8. Bargain

akg headphonesBassBuds pink

AKG K451 HEADPHONES (£49.95) AND BassBuds (from £39.95)

Every runner needs a rhythm and mine would not be complete without the latest episode of the Nextmen Podcast or even Mark Knight’s Toolroom Nights podcast. I absolutely adore my bass heavy AKG headphones which are great whilst running and keep my ears warm. However, these little headphones from BassBuds really do look the part and match my gear too.

Thermos

Thermos Hydration Flask with Meter (£12.95)

A smart meter in this hydration flask tells you exactly how much H2O you’ve consumed throughout the day – clever eh? A great way to accurately track how far off your 2ltr daily intake whilst training or out and about. I like this snazzy teal colour

bobblebottle

Bobble Bottle (£8.99)

I’ve had my heart set on one of these gorgeous BobbleBottles for a long time now. The unique bobble filter removes all chlorine and any nasties leaving your aqua crisp and fresh. Perfect for those who aren’t keen on tap water and a fashionable way to stay hydrated.

alicepants onzietop

 ONZIE from NotJustGym in Weybridge

I’ve totally fallen for this American brand, Onzie, with the abstract designs and unusual, busy patterns. My particular favourite is the Alice Limited Edition Running pants (£60) matched with this Elastic Strap top with Turquoise detailing on the back (£40). Another bit of exciting news is this brand new sportswear shop, NotJustGym has opened on the Queens Road in Weybridge and I’m looking forward to checking it out – gorgeous!

activbod range

 ActivBod (FROM £5)

These make cute stocking fillers for those on the go. ActivBod is a new range for fitness fanatics hitting Boots stores nationwide from January 2015 but you can purchase the products off their website. It just smells great and exactly what you need after a hard session in the gym or pounding the pavements. I was hoping to test out the Mind over Matter Aroma Balm or the Turn Up The Heat Roller Gel but I can vouch that the cooling gel, exfoliating scrub and cleansing gel is just great and leaves your skin feeling soft, smooth and invigorated. My favourite part is with every purchase you’re helping a new charity, Women’s Sport Trust (WST) help build role models for women in sport and increase sports participation amongst girls with 10% of net profits from the sales of activbod products funding the projects around the UK.

resultswithlucy

Results with Lucy – Lucy Mecklenberg that is

So judge away but she is truly inspirational (for me anyway) and her bod is enough to get me down to the gym in no time – just check out her Instagram feed! She needs little introducing, but Lucy Mecklenberg’s (of TOWIE fame) Result with Lucy programmes give me great ideas down the gym. The plans come in at around £2.99 and there is an option to try a selection for free. I’m definitely going to give it a go and see how I get on. For those with more hardcore weight loss goals – try #Leanin15 by Joe Wicks. Not just a pretty face!

YOGASPHERE

yoga

Yogasphere IN THE SHARD (£40) or Yogarise session with a view (FROM £6)

These London based yoga classes certainly blast away the winter cobwebs. I’ve been to a Yogasphere class – in fact 10 early morning sessions at the Albany Club, a converted church near Regents Park but have yet to book my Shard experience. For £40 for a 1hr session, you will be put through your paces by either Mandy or Leo watching the sun rise from the 40th floor of the Shard. A beautiful view for the ultimate Yogi experience. I was a complete Yoga newbie when I joined my first session, so all abilities are certainly welcome – be careful, you will get hooked!

Another great view is from the Bussey Building in Peckham where Yogarise is based. You can expect a perfect view of the city of London with sky rise buildings in the distance – sometimes they host on top of the adjacent car park, where Franks Cafe is based in the summer. Why not drop in for one of the £6 community lessons that the team run if you want to test out a lesson for size?

VIVOSMART

Garmin Vivosmart (£139)

More on this in another post but it certainly makes the cut for my fitness gifting round up. I’ve had a whale of a time testing this little fitband out. Quite a hefty price tag at £139 but the compatibility between the app that tracks your progress of steps per day, mileage, targets and link with MyFitnessPal as well as excellent footstep callibration makes it all worthwhile. It sets you realistic goals and also monitors your sleep patterns whilst ensuring that you don’t miss out on any calls, texts or app updates from your phone.
