Like cheese? Like Bloody Mary’s? In the Farringdon area? I’ve got the perfect thing for you.
Relaxed hosts and cheese toastie experts Morty & Bobs have hit London town with a bang. And hey, you know when they ladle on the truffle oil, you’re in for a good time.
From the middle of March for two sublime weeks (Wednesday through Friday), M&Bs are setting up shop in well known Farringdon watering hole, The Hat and Tun. Named after grandparent namesakes; Morty and funnily enough Bob will rock your world with relatively pricy but oh so delicious oozy combinations such as:
- The Straight-up – signature grilled cheese with surprise filling (£5)
- Mushroom & Truffle – grilled cheese with sautéed mushrooms and a drizzle of truffle oil (£6). Add bacon.. definitely add bacon! (£1)
- The Hock – grilled cheese with smoked ham hock, M&B relish and English mustard (£7)
We tried two plus a Bloody Mary (or more). Shan’t give the game away but The Straight Up isn’t as straight forward as it sounds – made far better in fact! The Morty and Bob’s three cheese blend had me at hello – or should I say “in association with Neal’s Yard Dairy!” Unfortunately the cheesy tots (essentially cheese croquettas (£4) for finger nibbling) weren’t on the menu but look incredible – they would have been my first choice.
The Bloody Mary for its sins was just the perfect way to end a hectic day. The perfect amount of sazz and spice to celery stick garnish. Hate it when they get that balance wrong!
